Charlotte, NC (February 19, 2010) – The Hunstad
Center for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery & MedSpa recently welcomed David
Shifrin, MD to its fellowship program in January. Dr. Shifrin is
training in Advanced Aesthetic Surgery under the tutelage of Dr.
Joseph P. Hunstad, the President and supervising physician of the
surgical center and medspa.
Dr. Shifrin will study aesthetic plastic surgery with a focus on
advanced body contouring after massive weight loss, breast and
facial aesthetic surgery. The duration of the program is six months.
The intensive training is something Dr. Shifrin is enthusiastic
about completing.
“My passion for my field and desire to help others motivates me to
take advantage of any learning experience afforded to me. I am
especially excited to have the opportunity to be mentored by one of
today’s leaders in the field of aesthetic surgery. Dr. Hunstad’s
reputation as a leader in aesthetic surgery is what attracted me to
this particular program,” said Shifrin.
Dr. Shifrin earned his medical degree from Loyola Stritch School of
Medicine in Chicago and pursued a Microsurgery Fellowship at the
Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He also participated in a
volunteer medical mission performing cleft lip and cleft palate
repairs for underserved people in Bolpur, India after being awarded
a Regan fellow through the Operation Smile Foundation.

fortunate enough have mentors who greatly influenced and encouraged
me in my career. Having been in this field for over 22 years, I am
happy to be in a position in which I can in turn do the same for
other young physicians,” said Dr. Hunstad.
The Hunstad Fellowship program was established in 2001; Dr. Shifrin
is the ninth fellow to train under the program.
