Arm
Lift or Brachioplasty
Arm
Lift, medically known as the Brachioplasty, is an exciting procedure that can dramatically
improve the shape and contour of the arms. It is a wonderful
treatment for patients who have experienced massive weight loss or
who have developed flacidity or laxity of the arms over time. The
surgical procedure can usually be completed in approximately one
hour and postoperative discomfort is minimal. All sutures are
placed so that they dissolve and no stitches are needed to be
removed. This leaves the best scar. The arms can be significantly
rejuvenated and a laxity reversed leading to a taut and beautiful
shape and contour.

All
of the redundant or excess skin will be removed giving the
following patient a very youthful and taut arm. The scar
fades to a fine white line within approximately 6 months. |
 |
Markings
are made preoperatively to identify the redundant skin
to be removed.

The following is a massive
weight loss patient. She had heavy laxity of the arms as
well as excess remaining fat tissue. The brachioplasty
procedure gave her arms a better contour as well as a more
youthful appearance. The scars fade to white within
approximately a year.

This patient required an
extended arm and lateral chest lift. It removed all excess
skin and fat from the arms and the lateral breast and
chest. She has really been happy with her new tight taut
arms and loves the fact that there is no more
rubbing of the skin folds on the side of her chest. The
scar fades to a fine white line within months. |

Here at the Hunstad Center,
we also provide a Mini Brachioplasty option for those who
have only slight laxity of the upper inner arm. During this
procedure, a modest amount of skin is removed from the
armpit area, usually all of the hair-bearing skin. Closure
of this incision creates a "Mini" armlift. This procedure
takes approximately half an hour to perform and recovery
time is minimal. |
