Subglandular Silicone Gel Augmentation with Purse String
Mastopexy
Before After
Trans-Umbilical Breast Augmentation, also referred to as
TUBA, is a very clever method of breast augmentation.
Saline implants are placed through a small incision located
inside the umbilicus or belly button. The implants are placed
beneath the breast through a small tunnel. Although it is not
commonly known, breast implants can be placed either above the
muscle in the subglandular position or below the muscle in the
submuscular position! This procedure usually takes less than
one hour and normal activities can be begun in just a few days.
Elastic wraps are placed around the abdomen for 24 hours to
prevent any fluid accumulation in the tunnels. You can shower
the very first day after surgery. Usually by three weeks massage
is begun to maintain softness of the breasts. For patients who
want to have a truly inconspicuous or virtually invisible scar
this is a wonderful method of breast augmentation.
The following patient underwent
a TUBA using submuscular 390cc Moderate Plus saline implants.

Markings are made
preoperatively to diagram the tunnels as well as the prospective
pockets for the implants
The scar left
behind from a TUBA procedure is, as you can see on the right,
hidden within the umbilicus.
This patient
requested a TUBA augmentation with submuscular saline
implants. She chose a moderate plus 300cc implant. (A to

the relative benefits of each procedure and choose the technique
best suited for you.
