Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is an exciting procedure that is used primarily to remove
the lipstick bleed lines also referred to in a circumoral rhytids from
around the mouth. This is a surgical standing procedure using a fine
diamond wheel. Dr. Hunstad personally performs this procedure either
alone or often associated with face lifting. A tremendous improvements
can be achieved with this surgical technique. Proper skin care treatment
before surgery will shorten the recovery necessary and improve the final
results. This of course is available through the trained institutions
that the Hunstad Center. Preoperative skin care is very important for
both dermabrasion and chemical peel procedures. This surgical procedure
of dermabrasion is very different from micro dermabrasion which is a
Medi Spa service.
Dermabrasion is also very effective for the treatment of acne scarring.
Acne scars are very bothersome for many people but there is hope as
dermabrasion can significantly and improve these. This surgical
procedure usually is performed either under local anesthesia with
sedation or under general anesthesia. The treatment time is short
usually less than one hour. The recovery is difficult for the first few
days as the skin must be constantly moisturize with special creams that
will be provided for you. Usually by five to seven days, a completely
new skin surface is present in the results are visible.
