Cosmetic Eyelid
Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Blepharoplasty is a very common procedure performed at the Hunstad
Center. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. For
upper eyelids, typically the incision begins within the natural crease
of the eye’s inside corner and extends slightly beyond the outside
corner into the crow’s feet or laugh lines. Through this incision, Dr.
Hunstad removes excess skin and fatty tissue. The incision line follows
the natural contour of the upper eyelid, and is camouflaged when healed.
For lower eyelids, typically the incision is concealed just below the
lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin, muscle, and fat are
removed. We can also make special adjustments such as the fat beneath
the eye can be redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges. In some
patients, the underlying muscle will be tightened. These procedures will
leave you looking energized, with a fresh appearance. Many times a
transconjunctival lower lid Blepharoplasty is possible where the
incision is inside the eyelid, therefore leaving no visible scar. These
are outpatient procedures and are often combined with forehead,
facelift, and neck lifting procedures.
