Fat Grafting and
Injections
Fat Grafting, or placing your own fat
to add volume, can be done on any part of the body. Since it uses
your body tissue, it is completely safe with no chance of foreign
body rejection. There are three types of fat grafting performed at
the Hunstad Center. Fat Grafting using the syringe technique,
Microfat grafting and Dermal Fat Grafting.
Fat grafting using the syringe
technique is done to larger areas of the body, such as the legs,
abdomen and buttocks. Fat is harvested from another area using 60cc
syringes. It is then strained and placed back into syringes for
injection into the desired areas.
Microfat Grafting is done on smaller
areas of the body, such as the hands, lips or facial lines to add
minimal fullness. In this technique, smaller cannulas and syringes
are used. The harvested fat is placed and spun in a centrifuge to
remove oils and any other non-fat materials. The result is very
smooth in texture and is injected into the desired area.
Dermal fat grafting is performed by
removing a strip of tissue from another part of the body to place
into the lips or other facial areas and indentions. This dermal fat
is usually found within a previous scar.
