DESCRIPTION
Clinical Support for Surgery is a two-part nutritional supplement that
is designed to provide patients with essential nutrients to support
healing and improve safety. The formula does not contain Vitamin E
because its use around the time of surgery is undesirable. Vitamin E can
slow wound healing and can cause problems with bleeding.
BENEFITS
The formulation supplies key nutrients. Vitamin A and Vitamin
C, two powerful antioxidants that must be present for wound healing,
immune system function and infection control. Vitamin K, an essential
nutrient for bone formation, repair and blood clotting. Over 100% of
the RDA for zinc, selenium and copper, trace antioxidant minerals that
are important for healing and that help with collagen and elastin
formation. The full complex of B-Vitamins, which are also known as the
“stress fighter” and are necessary for healthy skin.
Morning & Evening Formulation. The use of chronotherapy
provides the right nutrients at the right time of day. Due to divided
doses, it also ensures optimal absorption of the water-soluble vitamins.
The Right Balance of Vitamins. Eliminates the worry about
whether you’re taking the right amount, or in the right combination.
Chelated Minerals for Maximal Absorption. Chelation, which
combines a mineral with an amino acid helps absorption to ensure that
you get what you paid for.
INDICATIONS
Clinical Support for Surgery contains certain nutrients that are
especially important for healing and building the immune system. As a
result, the product is particularly beneficial for patients undergoing
more extensive surgical procedures such as face lift (rhytidectomy),
breast reduction and reconstruction, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), and
liposuction.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Nutritional supplements have a very safe track record. However, certain
individuals should seek the advice of their doctor before beginning any
nutritional supplement program particularly diabetics and pregnant or
lactating women. CLINICAL SUPPORT FOR SURGERY contains Vitamin K and is
contraindicated in patients taking blood thinners like coumadin. This
product also contains Vitamin A. If you are presently taking Accutane®
(isotretinoin) for the treatment of acne, please refrain from taking
CLINICAL SUPPORT FOR SURGERY until the end of the treatment cycle. This
product also contains niacin, which may cause temporary redness of the
skin and flushing.
DIRECTIONS
Additional vitamin, mineral or herbal supplements should not be taken
during the peri-operative period. In particular, the following should
be discontinued two weeks prior to, and for up to two weeks after
surgery: bilberry, cayenne, dong quai, echinacea, feverfew, fish oil
caps, garlic, ginger, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, hawthorne, kava kava,
licorice root, ma huang (ephedra), melatonin, red clover, St. John’s
wort, valerian, vitamin E and yohimbe.
Begin taking Clinical Support for Surgery up to two weeks prior to a
scheduled surgery and for at least two weeks post-operatively. As a
dietary supplement, take three tablets of AM Clinical Support for
Surgery with breakfast or lunch. Take three tablets of PM Clinical
Support for Surgery with dinner or before bedtime. Each individual is
unique and your requirements may vary.
About 10% of people experience the so-called “niacin flush” with
high-potency vitamins. This involves a temporary reddening of the skin
that lasts 10-15 minutes. It is a normal response and is harmless.
Usually it will disappear after one or two days of taking the vitamins.
To decrease the chances of the niacin-flush occurring, we recommend
building up slowly to the full dose of Clinical Support for Surgery
When starting the supplement, simply reduce the dose to one tablet for
1-2 days, then two tablets for 1-2 days, and so forth. This approach
will also help to prevent the uneasy sensation that occurs in some
people's stomach after taking vitamins.
