DESCRIPTION
We all know that good nutrition is essential to our health and well-being.
But, the reality is that most of us don’t follow a well-balanced diet on a
regular basis. Of particular importance are foods such fish, nuts and seeds.
These foods are rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) -
nutrients our bodies need and that must be obtained through diet or
supplementation.
Just like vitamins & minerals, it is often difficult to obtain the
recommended amount of EFAs through diet alone. This is because EFAs have
been virtually eliminated from the modern diet due to the mass commercial
refinement of fats & oils. And, very often these health-promoting fats have
been replaced with unhealthy “partially-hydrogenated” fats.
VitaMedica’s Flax Seed Oil supplement is designed for individuals who want
to look and feel their best, but may not eat the variety and quality of
foods to obtain optimal levels of Essential Fatty Acids. The supplement
helps to provide the building blocks necessary for healthy skin cells. The
result is skin that is adequately nourished, moisturized and healthy
looking.
VitaMedica’s Flax Seed Oil supplement is designed to boost the effectiveness
of the topical moisturizers currently recommended by your skin care
professional. The result is a comprehensive, bi-directional approach to
naturally support healthy-looking skin.
BENEFITS
Internal Moisturization. Flax Seed Oil internally lubricates the
skin. The supplement is particularly beneficial for individuals with mature
skin, which is dryer due to reduced sebum production, leading to decreased
moisture retention.
Improved Allergic & Inflammatory Response. A deficiency of
Omega-3 fatty acids is often a contributory factor to many inflammatory
conditions of the skin such eczema and psoriasis.
Better Hormonal Balance. Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are
precursors for prostaglandins, hormone-like compounds that regulate many
bodily functions.
Increased Energy. Essential fatty acids increase cellular
metabolism, thereby increasing energy and stamina.
Improved Cholesterol and Triglyceride Levels. Research has
shown that Omega-3 fatty acids can improve cholesterol and trigylceride
levels by effecting the liver metabolism of these compounds.
Enhanced Immune System Function. Omega-3 fatty acids are an
essential element of many immune system processes. Evidence has shown that
the essential Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids play a crucial role in the
production and utilization of interferon, one of our body’s natural virus
killers.
No After Taste. While fish oil provides many of the same
benefits of flax seed oil, many people do not like the repeat effect of
taking fish oil supplements. Since flax seed oil does not have this
tendency, many people prefer taking a flax seed oil supplement.
Easy to Swallow Capsules. Most patients prefer taking capsules
because they are easier to take and are more readily digested than tablets.
Requires no Refrigeration. The natural carob coating of the
capsule protects the delicate oil from exposure to sunlight and the
oxidation that results. For this reason, the capsules do not need to be
refrigerated.
INDICATIONS
Anyone can benefit from taking an essential fatty acid supplement. However,
EFAs are particularly beneficial for those with maturing, dry skin because
the nutrient plays an important role in keeping the skin and other tissues
youthful and supple through their lubricating quality. In addition, EFAs
can be very beneficial for individuals with inflammatory skin conditions
such as psoriasis and eczema.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Nutritional supplements have a very safe track record. However, certain
individuals should seek the advice of their doctor before beginning the
program particularly diabetics, pregnant or lactating women.
DIRECTIONS
Take 1-2 capsules with breakfast or at dinnertime. For individuals with
inflammatory skin problems, increase the dosage to 3-4 capsules. Note: We
recommend building slowly to the full dose, starting with 1 capsule per day
and increasing the dosage after a few days.
